Puckered Cotton and a Bow

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

I hope you had a wonderful Monday and are off to a great start to your week! We went down to San Antonio this weekend to celebrate my grandpa’s birthday.  It was so nice to see the family and be home.

Today I want to talk about this puckered cotton tie skirt, which is perfect for church / synagogue and how you can style it!

Shop the Look

I got this J. Crew skirt from Nordstrom during the Nsale.  (Looks like it’s sold out, but you can get similar ones herehere, and here.) The first time I saw it, its bright colors are what grabbed my attention.  I initially looked at it and thought that it was a little too bright and maybe a little too much for me.  [The material is pretty thick so it’s quite structured. It’s definitely a statement piece.] I kept wandering and then ended up coming back to it — it looked like it’d be a perfect synagogue skirt and would even work for some family gatherings / work events.  I tried it on and fell in love with the puckered cotton material and the bow waist tie! It was definitely a little bit outside of my comfort zone but I’m so glad I stretched my fashion boundaries and got it.

If you want to wear it to church or work in a more casual manner, you can pair it with a white tank top like I did.  Or you can wear it with a white-button down to make it a bit more formal.  I also love pairing patterned and/or textured skirts with chambray tops! If I’m feeling really daring [insert stomach flip here], I’ll combo it with a patterned top like this or this.

Lastly, I want to say that my thoughts and prayers and are with all of our Houston family and friends.  The devastation of Hurricane Harvey is heart-breaking and we know that Houston can use all of our help.  If you’re looking for ways to provide aid, please check here.
