Today I wanted to talk to you about a new sleeping hack I discovered that has truly transformed my mornings and consequently my days.
Shop the Look
As of late, I had been having a really hard time waking up in the morning. I would go to bed at 10 pm, set my alarm for 6:30 am and then snooze at least two times before groggily getting up. Even with 8.5 hours of sleep I was still EXHAUSTED in the morning. I did some research and learned that it’s not about how long you’re sleeping – it’s the amount of 90 minute increments you’re getting. Let me explain.
Instead of trying to get 8 hours of sleep, count out the 90 minute intervals and only wake up when a 90 minute interval has completed. When I changed my sleeping time 10:30 pm to 6 am, I was able to get up much more easily and didn’t feel tired. In fact, I felt alert and ready to start the day! I was shocked, especially since I was getting one hour less of sleep.
Here’s the trick:
10:30 am – 12 am (90 minute interval)
12 – 1:30 am (90 min interval)
1:30 – 3 am (90 min interval)
3 – 4:30 am (90 min interval)
4:30 – 6 am (90 min interval)
Since I’ve been waking up at the end of the last 90 minute interval, I feel refreshed and truly awake. This new schedule has helped me accomplish more throughout the day because I’m getting an earlier start and am being much more productive.
Do you have any sleeping hacks? I’d love to hear about them! If you try this approach, let me know how it works for you in the comments below.
